The Mid-Iowa Skywarn Association (MISA) is an organization comprised of volunteers from the general public who are passionate about spotting hazardous weather to provide the National Weather Service and other agencies detailed "ground truth" information that benefits communities with critical, accurate, and timely weather warning information.
NWS encourages anyone with an interest in public service and access to communication, such as amateur radio, to join the Skywarn program. Training is typically held February through April.
Radio amateurs across the state own, maintain, and operate a linked repeater system for Skywarn use. Find the one nearest you.
